Learn how to easily generate invoice PDFs from your sales
What are Customer Invoices?
Customer Invoices are simply PDFs generated from a Takealot sale.
Each invoice includes:
- your company's name
- your billing information (which can be updated on your settings page)
- information from each sale with the same Order ID as the sale you generated from
- the customer's name (which can be edited to a different personal or business name)
- (optionally) the customer's VAT number
- (optionally) the customer's company registration number
- (optionally) the customer's address
How do I create an invoice?
It's easy:
- Navigate to your sales page
- Search for a sale
- Click the download icon on the right of the page
- Optionally enter additional information to add
- Click 'Download'
- Wait for the download to complete
How do I include all sales for an order?
When you generate an invoice for any given sale, the invoice will include the information from all the sales that share the same Order ID as the sale you're generating for.
For example, if you want to generate an invoice containing all the sales for Order ID 12345, you would search for 12345 and then generate an invoice for any of the sales that come back.
You do not need to generate more than one invoice per Order ID.
How do I enable or disable VAT?
If you'd like to include VAT on the invoices, you need to add your VAT Number on your Billing Information on the Settings → Billing page. This will automatically add VAT to any customer invoices you create, as well as your VAT number.
Vice-versa, if you'd like to exclude VAT on the invoices, you need to ensure that the VAT Number field on your Billing Information is blank.
Which sales are included on the invoice?
By default, only "successful" sales are included on an invoice, which means that returned and cancelled sales are excluded.
However, you can choose to include returned and cancelled sales as well, by ticking the checkbox "Include Cancelled and Returned Sales" prior to generating the invoice.

Palmetrics used to charge for each customer invoice created, however this was removed on March 19, 2024. Since then, customer invoices have been free to create.
